It's been on Les Flâneurs' to-do list for years to see a band, pretty much any band, at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, just outside of Denver. On a recent weekend we scored big time as part of a meandering trip through Colorado and Utah. Our schedule was dictated by visits with friends in Park City, UT and Edwards, CO and was punctuated by a visit with our older son, who breezed into Denver with his girlfriend for a wedding. How delighted were we to discover that The Tedeschi-Trucks Band was on the schedule for our available Saturday night.
The set list included favorites, such as Midnight in Harlem Made Up Mind and Bound for Glory as well as a fresh cover (to us) of an old Jefferson Airplane tune called 3/5ths of a Mile in 10 Seconds, with guest performance by Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna.
The venue is itself a religious experience, set in a natural amphitheater with a view of the city.
And framed by these acoustical beauties at the rear.
