An Aqueous Safari?
July 29, 2018
Step aside Bogie, The African Queen…

…ain’t got nothin on the African Dream.

She floats on Lake Kariba, a modern palace operated by Croisi on the Zambian/Zimbabwe border. I know that Les Flâneurs do not ordinarily name brands, but in this case, well, its important to know that a French luxury cruise line knows how to place you in the wild without having to subject you to it. Sumptuous cabins. Transcendent food. The perfect private retreat for 15 friends old and new sharing 8 cabins.
Birders and fishermen will find endless fascination in a river world that also abounds in hippos and crocs, which number 40,000 and 60,000, respectively… so, diving off the back deck is strictly forbidden. But then, there is the tender boat, which affords fishing and views, with icy gin and tonics, of course.

Game drives on Lake Kariba and later in Chobe National Park fed the fuzzy critter jones, where we 15 owned a river “glamp” for the next 3 days.

Again, the tenders brought us on the aqueous safari promised at the outset of this entry.
